Grace Smith House Exhibit Spotlights Domestic Violence

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Art with messages from those who have experienced partner abuse and family violence is the essence of The Clothesline Project being exhibited from Aug. 10 to Sept. 7 at The Mid-Hudson Heritage Center in Poughkeepsie.

Grace Smith House is presenting the exhibit, which allows individuals affected by violence to express their emotions by writing and drawing on pieces of clothing about their experience as a testimony to overcoming the problems of the abuse.

Grace Smith House is a private not-for-profit domestic violence agency, which provides both residential and non-residential services to victims of domestic violence and their children.

The exhibit's opening reception is Friday, Aug. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the center, 317 Main St., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

There will be refreshments.

Mary Kay Cosmetics, with Sales Director Susan Vitolo as the local liaison, is sponsoring the exhibit.
